About the owner
iSpec LLC is owned by Juhriah Smith, who came to construction through the drawings before the jobsite. He earned a CAD certification and worked as an architectural draftsman, so he understood how a house is designed before he ever saw how one actually gets built. Closing the distance between those two views is still how he runs a job: the drawings and the jobsite are one problem, not two.
He started in the field as an apprentice with a residential remodeling company, then spent a decade with an independently owned renovation company on full-scope kitchen and bath remodels — rough-in plumbing through finish carpentry, every leg of the job. He went on to work as an installer, carpenter and jobsite foreman for a mid-size general contractor, coordinating trades and schedules on larger builds, and founded iSpec LLC in 2016 to hold the work to that standard.
For a homeowner, the practical result is a contractor whose owner can read the plans, price the job, and account for the conditions that never made it onto the drawings.
